Summer is finally here and you know what that means – ROAD TRIP! Living in Upstate New York can get a little boring sometimes in the Summer so, we have compiled our favorite places to hit up in the Summer months! Whether you are looking for a day trip or an overnighter, all of these locations are a great place to enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life. Check it out below and let us know which spots are your favorites!

Niagara Falls

  • As one of the nation’s top tourist attractions, Niagara Falls is most definitely a landmark that pictures just don’t do it justice. The iconic falls can be viewed via boat for an up-close experience, which is pretty sweet if you ask us! This area has a lot to do as well. From shopping to Whirlpool State Park, the Niagara Gorge Trail, or even the Seneca Niagara Casino – there is something for everyone!

Lake George

  • Let’s bring our road trip a little closer to home – Lake George is a beautiful location for a day trip or even a weekend camping getaway. Shopping, swimming, boating – you name it Lake George has it. Much like the falls, there is a lot to do in this town during the Summer months. Seriously, don’t blink or you’ll miss out! And, if you’re into hot air ballooning, keep your eye out for events!

National Baseball Hall of Fame

  • If you have a love for the game, the Cooperstown museum is a great destination to hit when the temperatures are climbing. As the nation’s largest shrine to the game of baseball, you’ll find over 38,000 artifacts plus, exhibits honoring those who played or managed the sport. Spend the day with the kids learning about the history of this great sport!

Lake Placid

  • Home to the Olympic Games, two-times, Lake Placid might be a more fun destination during the Summer months. Open year-round, the Lake Placid Olympic Center is a fascinating complex to see up close and personal. But there is much more to do there – hiking, boating, kayaking, if you have a love for the outdoors, Lake Placid is the place for you. With much to do, it is hard to see how you’ll pack it all into one day. I guess you’ll have to go back!

Watkins Glen

  • We got a need for speed and if you do too, you’ll want to hit up this place. During the Summer, Watkins Glen is home to racing weekends that feature sports cars, endurance, and stock car events. And if you’re feeling up to it, you can even drive your own vehicle down the 3.4-mile Grand Prix Circuit! Plus, you’ll be close the Seneca Lake which features a beautiful, calm weekend vibe.
